Eric, the Personal Trainer, has been providing highly customized boxing and kickboxing instruction and personal training for over 20 years to all ages and fitness levels including older populations. Eric has also trained numerous clients with mobility and stability issues including those with Parkinsons. Boxing for Parkinson’s has become very popular in the Parkinson’s community and found to be great workout. It provides many benefits because of its focus on motor skills, balance and strength. This not a miracle cure but can a be a fun way to stay in shape and manage your Parkinson’s symptoms. As with all Fit2box personal training programs this is a one-on-one personal training session in a private studio in Delray Beach, FL. However, it may be possible to offer this at a clients home in Palm Beach County. Each program is highly personalized to each client. What is the duration of each workout session?
Each workout session typically lasts between 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the fitness level of the client. We can also do one hour sessions depending on the client’s needs but usually 45 minutes is plenty to get a good workout in and stimulate the brain.
Are the programs suitable for any stage of Parkinsons?
Of course, we recommend speaking with your physician prior to starting any fitness program. Our programs are designed to be safe and accommodate different abilities and issues but we always encourage a consultation with a physician or physical therapist to see if this is right for you.
How intense are the workouts?
The intensity of the workout would depend on the day for each client and will be based on your symptoms and abilities. It is never too intense. Just enough to get some movement, get the brain firing and know you had a workout. We always try to make it as fun and invigorating as possible.
Do I need any prior boxing or kickboxing experience?
Absolutley not. No prior experience is necessary. Eric loves teaching beginner boxing and will guide you through the basics and ensure you feel comfortable and confident as you learn new movements and skills. Plus, we understand that there are sometimes mobility issues and we can always accomodate anyone who may have to have their workout done in a way to make the workout more safe and comfortable.
What equipment do I need to bring?
We provide all necessary equipment, including gloves, wraps and pads unless you’d like to buy your own. When you start getting comfortable with the workout you might want to get your own equipment. In that case we can you help you find some good equipment. But, when just starting out, just bring some sneakers, comfortable workout attire, a towel and a water bottle to stay hydrated.
